My goal is to create a warm and therapeutic space where you don’t feel like you have to show up as the best version of yourself, but as whichever version of yourself you are in the moment. My approach is relational and process-focused, which means that therapy is something that we create as a team - whether it involves making meaning, sitting in a feeling, or finding the humour in life’s challenges - and that draws upon your expertise in your own lived experience.
I frequently draw on parts work (Schema Therapy) during sessions, which helps us acknowledge how different parts of you have developed to help you cope. Through this lens, we’ll view any struggles not just as ‘symptoms’, but as the legacy of times in your life when you needed to survive. Together, we create enough safety for these parts to step back and allow you to try responding in new ways, even when doing so feels scary. I also draw on other therapies, including ACT, EMDR, Narrative Therapy, DBT, and CBT, to ensure that our work accommodates your individual needs.
My greatest joy as a psychologist is cultivating a therapeutic space that unconditionally affirms and fosters authenticity for all members of the LGBTIQAP+ community. This space is one in which we can sit together and navigate the sometimes muddy process of identity exploration and affirmation, relish in queer joy and gender euphoria, or make sense of the impact of living in a cisheteronormative world. I also value working in a way that is neuro-affirming and trauma-informed and celebrates the complexity of intersectionality.
