Callum Wade

Consultant Psychologist (he/they)

Anyone seeking out therapeutic support knows that life presents enough challenges, without adding the therapy itself to that list. I work to build a safe, informal space for you to bring the challenges you are facing so that we can work together to resolve them. I am passionate about supporting others to get to know their best selves and connecting with them on their own terms.

I believe that when working with others, it is important to be able to share in the things that matter to them, and so I work to actively broaden my understanding of not just the psychological challenges that client's face, but the parts of their life from which they draw meaning. I believe that a therapeutic relationship is one of team work, meaning that both the navigation of set backs and celebration of progress is shared between us.

Within my clinical practice, I am passionate about:

  • Support of LGBTQIA+ folk
  • Neurodiverse affirming practice - and drawing on my lived experience as an ND person
  • Food and body image difficulties
  • Working with First Nations people
  • A truely client-focused approach, tailoring strategies and perspectives to you in the context of your life, rather than the wrote repetition of predefined treatments
  • Building a relationship between clients and themselves where they are able to find comfort in how they feel, move and act rather than how they are seen

The modalities I often use in my practice are grounded in Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), Narrative Therapy and Functional Behavioural Analysis (FBA). Importantly, these concepts and others will be applied as much or as little as best serves you and your needs. Often, a novel reworking of a strategy in a way that clicks for you is the one that will be the most supportive. It is not unusual for me to draw on concepts of Play Therapy, even for adults, or use movement or stretching to do the work usually done through mindfulness.

It is your therapy, so it should look like what works best for you.

In addition to a psychology degree, Callum has a Diploma of Nutrition. He sees ages 12+ and is available on Mondays and Tuesdays.
