Sally Kinmond

Consultant Psychologist (she/her)

Therapy can be a place to slow down and make sense of what’s going on beneath the surface. It’s a space to explore your thoughts, feelings, fears, longings, and desires - within a safe and respectful environment that considers your experiences in the context of your life story.

I bring a curious, warm, thoughtful, and neurodiversity affirming approach to therapy. I’m interested in understanding you as a whole person, not just the symptoms you’re experiencing, and in exploring what might be underlying the challenges that bring you to therapy.

I recognise that pain and distress can show up in many different ways, and that their origins are often outside of our immediate awareness. I enjoy working with people to both ease current symptoms and develop insight into how and why these difficulties may have developed over time.

I work with a range of concerns, including:

  • Trauma and post-traumatic stress
  • Anxiety and mood difficulties
  • Grief, adjustment, and life transitions
  • Eating disorders and body image concerns
  • Identity, self-esteem, and meaning-making
  • LGBTQIA+ identities and relationships

I have experience working with adolescents and adults across university, public health, and private practice settings. My work is grounded in relational psychodynamic psychotherapy, which focuses on how past and present relationships and experiences shape current patterns of thinking, feeling, and relating. I work with people who are seeking deeper self-understanding, meaningful change, or shifts in unhelpful relational patterns.

Alongside psychodynamic work, I draw on evidence-based approaches such as CBT, ACT, and DBT when these tools are helpful in supporting your goals.

My hope is that therapy with me feels like a space where you can bring all parts of yourself into the room. I aim to offer a steady, supportive environment where even the most difficult or unspoken experiences can be explored at your own pace.
