Fern Smith

Registered Psychologist (she/her)

I prioritise creating a safe therapeutic space for all including recognition for LGBTIQA+ people and their families, focusing on working in a trauma-informed, neuro-affirming, person-centred, and strengths-based approach.

I have a keen interest in the relationships between eating disturbance, poor body image, PTSD, sexual abuse, neurodivergence, perfectionism, and other conditions including depression, anxiety, low self-esteem, and suicide. I also enjoy working with parents of adolescents with eating disorders and other complex presentations. I draw upon a range of interventions including DBT, ACT, CBT, and process work psychotherapy techniques, and am trained in RAVES for eating disorders, Specialist Supportive Clinical Management for eating disorders (SSCM), and Motivational Interviewing (MI).

I identify as neurodivergent, have had a lived experience with an eating disorder, and am registered with the Australian Psychological Society (APS).

Fern works across a wide age range, working with adolescents from 12 years (14+ for moderate to severe eating disorders), and young adults through to older adults. Fern works fortnightly on Saturdays.
