Amy Skippen

Psychologist (she/her)

My approach to therapy is that it should be a space where you can show up exactly as you are, and I will meet you there. I bring a relaxed and genuine approach to the room, where humour is welcome, honesty is valued, and you can expect me to be real with you. Sometimes that means I’ll play devil’s advocate or gently challenge you, but always with kindness, curiosity, and respect.

My areas of passion include:

  • Trauma and post-traumatic stress
  • Anxiety and mood difficulties
  • Grief, adjustment, and life transitions
  • Interpersonal and relationship challenges (individual work, not couples counselling)
  • Identity, self-esteem, and meaning-making
  • LGBTQIA+ identities and relationships
  • Disordered eating and body image

I have experience in school, private practice and non-government community settings, and enjoy working with adolescents and adults. I work from a neuroaffirming, trauma-informed, and person-centred approach, drawing on evidence-based models including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Special Support Clinical Management (SSCM), Focal Psychodynamic Therapy (FPT) and Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT).

I believe therapy is a collaborative process and we’ll go at your pace, bring lightness when it’s needed, and create space for the full range of your experience. My hope is that you’ll leave sessions not only feeling understood, but also equipped with the insight and skills to navigate life in a way that feels authentic to you.

Amy works on Wednesdays via telehealth and Fridays face-to-face, and sees ages 16+.
